AT GOD’S TABLE SOUTH AFRICA

At God’s Table South Africa acts in a supportive role to the ministry of Dr Skip Moen, as well as to the 501c3  non-profit organisation, At God’s Table.

Our Mission Statement

At God’s Table was born out of a crisis experience. It grew by word of mouth for many years. As a result, it is focussed on two critical areas – personal spiritual growth and engagement within a community. The purpose of At God’s Table is to provide insight, teaching, exploration and encounter with God’s Word and convert that experience into real obedience. Today’s Word, the daily email delivery of At God’s Table, is just one way that we provide this instruction. Lectures, books, articles and personal encounters are also used to encourage people to discover lives of dependence on God. Furthermore, At God’s Table encouages every reader to join the community by making a tangible offering of finances or services. We are here to help each other in real ways.

23 February 2013  Saturday                BLOEMFONTEIN           09H00 – 13H00   RUTH UNCENSOREDRUTH 2
The story of Ruth is perhaps the most important narrative about hesed in the Tanakh.  Not only is Ruth an outsider, she is prohibited from even being part of Israel.  Her very presence is a scandal.  Yet Ruth’s actions exhibit the character of God, so much so that she overcomes generational curses and heals ancient wounds.  Ruth’s story is an adventure of intrigue, risk, commitment and victory.  It is the story for everyone who comes into Israel from outside.  By studying Ruth we not only learn about the power of hesed, we also learn about our own motives and compassion.

Every women knows she was designed for a special role – a role that has been denied to her far too long. In this study of Scripture, I re-examine the Genesis account from a Hebraic perspective. This foundation supports a radical revision of contemporary views about women. Women are designed by God to be the relationship managers of marriage.  Without understanding these roles, marriages will flounder and gender issues will remain unresolved. This is a  seminar for anyone who wants to know how to make relationships work according to God’s way.

BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW
Greek / Western Paradigm         vs       Hebrew / Biblical Worldview

LIVING THE BIBLICAL WORLD VIEW : You must know that you have been deceived. It has completely affected our way of living so that we merely accept the implications as perfectly normal. For 2500 years the Western world has been building its civilization on sand. We have seen it before. The Egyptians, Assyrians, Babylonians, the great empires of India and the holy Roman Empire have all come and gone. At the end of the day, civilizations built on sand simply disappear. The truth is that our contemporary society rests on the same shifting sand. We will examine the difference between the GREEK AND HEBREW VIEWS OF THE WORLD, MAN AND GOD. We can picture some of these thematic differences with the following word pairs;
Greek                                             HEBREW
believe correctly        vs.        behave correctly
education                                     submission
knowledge                                    wisdom
reason                                            revelation(nephews)
enlightment                                 repentance
destiny                                           purpose                  -  taken from the book: Spiritual Restoration, Reclaiming the foundations of God’s World Vol 1

 28 February 2013   Thursday     VANDERBIJLPARK          19H00        ” THE CROSS”
Venue:  VOLLE EVANGELIE KERK – Corner of Hendrik van Eck & Louis Trichardt Blvd.
RSVP: Kobus Geldenhuys   obusgeldenhuys@gmail.com

The Cross – We proclaim that Yeshua’s death on the Cross provides forgiveness for our sins.  But we know that the sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins occurred “before the foundation of the world” on the heavenly altar. (Rev 13:8, Heb 9:22) If this is so, then what is happening on the execution stake? It is very clear that His death is essential for the fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan.  The Cross is necessary.  But why?

Unity in Community.  Paul emphasizes unity over all other characteristics of the believing community, but it seems that today we are far a field of that goal.  With more than 32,000 denominations in the Christian Protestant world, it’s hard to see how we can get closer to the New Testament model.  But denominational differences only mask a deeper problem:  the lack of compassion in our lives.  In this study we will look at the biblical idea of compassion and its application in our ordinary lives.  This will help us see how actions are the basis of unity, not necessarily theological agreement

The Beatitudes – Most of us have learned the Beatitudes from childhood.  We think we know what they are all about.  But few of us have truly understand the upside-down and backwards view of the world presented in these cryptic verses.  By exploring the Greek and Hebrew background of the text in Matthew, we discover something really important:  the Beatitudes are not spiritual guidelines for how to get blessings from God.  They aren’t about getting our share of the Kingdom.  They are about something far deeper – how God sees those who cry out to Him!

The Beatitudes show us a world that we often ignore or reject.  The Beatitudes focus on people we don’t consider worthwhile.  The Beatitudes claim that the desperate, the rejected, the empty, the abused, the oppressed and the ones who give up their rights are the luckiest people in the world.  If you want to find out why Yeshua claims they are so lucky, come to hear this series on Matthew 5.
